Introductory Scholarship Program for Adults
OVERVIEW
Uwaylim is an introductory scholarship track designed for adults seeking advanced study in Islamic knowledge. Uwaylim provides the structure and scholarly guidance for dedicated students to grow in both knowledge and understanding.
The Quran & Sunna consist of decisive and interpretive texts. The decisive texts are clear, have only one possible meaning, do not need interpretation, and have no apparent contradictions. In contrast, the interpretive texts have more than one possible meaning and may seem to contradict other interpretive texts. Usul al-fiqh is the study of how the scholars interpret such verses and hadiths and provide us with rulings for daily life. We will study the methods of the imams and examine case-study rulings on how they applied their usul.
