Introduction to the Program

 

Arkview+ gives you access to all of our online classes as well as all past recordings. The scholarship track offers technical courses in ‘aqida, fiqh, usul, ‘ilm al-hadith, ‘ulum al-Quran, and fiqh al-sira. Students who complete the Scholarship Track often go on to teach in their local masajid and in some cases teach for Safina Society onsite or online.

Offerings

1 Arabic Night Course

• On Arkview+.

• This course is live starting September 20. All sessions recorded.

• By the end of this course, students will be able to read classical Arabic while knowing its grammar and understanding the morphology of the individual words. 

• Schedule: Monday - Thursday, September: 8:45 - 9:45 PM, Starting October: 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM  

• Pre-Requisites: Students must be able to read the letters and have a basic understanding of grammar. Can catch up by watching the videos of the course Intro to Arabic Grammar in 40 Lessons.

2 Science of Tawhid, followed by Sciences of Quran

3 Arabic for Kids

• The course is a practical application of the Arabic language and utilizes a method intended for native speakers at the elementary stages in their education.

4 The Quran According to Imam Qalun

• On Arkview+ & Arkview. 

• This course is live starting September 20. All sessions recorded.

• Students will learn the basic rules and recitation of Tajwid according to the narration of Imam Qalun. This course will focus on Surat al-Fatiha and Baqara.

The History of the Umayyads

• On Arkview+ & Arkview. 

• This course is live starting September 23. All sessions recorded.

• This course will approach the history of the Ummayads and the manner in which they shaped much of Islamic history.

Sira in Czech

• The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the basic story-line and the most important events in the life of the Prophet Muhammad, SAW in the Czech language.

• This course will cover Islamic history from the time of the rightly guided caliphs to the late Ottoman empire.

9 Fiqh Essentials

• This course takes an in depth look at the 5 pillars of Islam with a heavy emphasis on prayer and purification, as well as prohibitions of the tongue, rights of parents, and purification of the heart.

10 Maliki Fiqh: Ibn Ashir Part 2

• This class is a continuation of our study of Ibn Ashir - a 300 line poem in Aqida, Fiqh, and Tassawuf.

11 Hanafi Fiqh of Worship

• This course will cover the Fiqh rulings of the Ḥanafī Madhhab (School of Thought).

12 Fortress of Faith for Teens

• Students will learn the fundamentals of a Muslim's beliefs, or 'aqida.

14 Intro to Arabic Grammar in Forty Lessons

• On Arkview+ & Arkview. This course is live year-round. Grammar recordings are already up.

• The most foundational elements of grammar are covered, followed by reading passages read by the students. Upon completion of the forty lessons, we begin reading them all over again. The practice readings however, are always different.

• Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST

15 Interactive Tajwid

• On Arkview+ & Arkview. This course is live starting September 25. All sessions recorded.

• This course will begin with covering the basics and fundamentals of the science of Tajwid followed by theory and practice sessions to learn the proper pronunciation of the Arabic alphabet and the rules of Tajwid.

Meet the Instructors

 Dr.  Shadee Elmasry

Dr. Shadee Elmasry began studying the traditional sciences rigorously at age eighteen. He studied in Yemen, Mecca and Madina, London and Cairo under several veteran ulama. He studied Arabic Maliki fiqh, usul, aqida and suluk. Dr. Elmasry received a masters and PhD in religious studies, completing his masters thesis at The George Washington University and his PhD at The University of London, SOAS on Da’wa in the Works of Imam Abd Allah bin Alawi al-Haddad. Currently, he has found his way back home as Scholar in Residence and Director of Education at the New Brunswick Islamic Center in New Jersey. He is also the founder and head of Safina Society—an institution dedicated to disseminating Ahl al-Sunna & Jama knowledge live and online.

This course will explore the different chapters of Islamic inheritance law and will include many problem-solving exercises. The text is based on the Shafi’i school, but the course will address scholarly disagreement when applicable. It will also address some of the common misconceptions directed against Islamic Inheritance Law.

This course goes over the Jurisprudence of the Prophetic Biography and a brief history of the rightly guided caliphate by Dr. M. Sa'id Ramadan al-Buti, taught by Dr. Shadee Elmasry.

Bukharis Shortest Chains

Mufti Niaz Hannan

In this course, Shaykh Mufti Niaz Hannan narrates the Thulathiyyat of Imam al- Bukhari’s Jami‘ al-Sahih through the multiple chains of transmission he has received from his teachers worldwide. These chains connect one to students and teachers of Hadith going back fourteen centuries and ultimately back to The Greatest of Creation.

How frustrating is it not being able to access knowledge directly from its Arabic sources? This course takes you through the text word for word, while also discussing the content. So this is not just Arabic. If you don't know Arabic at all, you will still benefit from the commentary. The scholarship track is for students eager to climb the mountain of knowledge. Give us time, and we'll prepare you for the journey. You'll graduate ready and able to sit in high level classes of theology and law, knowing exactly what is being taught. The foundations track is for those who want to stay connected with loosely organized and relaxed sessions, not necessarily following an ordered curriculum.
